Stop Motion Assignment


Your next project is a 600-800 frame stop motion animation assignment. You will work in groups of three to four to make people do things that aren't possible in real life.
You will have two full class periods to shoot your assignment using my digital cameras. You will edit your videos in Adobe Premiere and add sound effects and music.

Stop Motion Pre-Production

Please get in your groups and start planning your production.

1. Please use TEXT EDIT and turn in the following information in the STAFF server:

  • Group Member names
  • A four to five sentence description of your animation project. 
  • Please tell me what special "tricks" you will create to make your animation look interesting. What will your characters do that they can't do in real life?
  • Also, let me know if you are using props or if the characters are wearing costumes. Who will wear what outfits?
  • Most importantly please tell me the story from beginning to end.
  • What type of music will you use? Why?
  • What kind of sound effects will you add?
2. Create a storyboard of the first 45 frames.

 Each video will need:

    I really like this animation because everything in the whole video was stop motion and they added skateboard sound effects to go alone with the human skateboard which I thought was really creative.

    This animation is by far the coolest one I have seen yet. The amount of time it must of taken to make this is incredible and the way the people change the color of their shirts according to the pacman characters is really cool.

    Human Skateboard - Stop motion Extraordinaire (No, not the one you have as a link.)
    This one I'm actually going to go with the credits, in particular, as it shows someone pulling down the pieces of paper from up above, while he is actually just getting them put in his hand during the pause between frames. It still is a very good stop motion for the skateboard part, though.

    I mainly like the video because of the medium used, Minecraft. At first I thought lego, and then I thought lego is like Minecraft and thus I ended up finding this video. I like how near the end a house is built from the moving blocks. Pretty neat :D

    Human Tetris, it was cool to use people as pixels, and the sound effects sounded real and something a person could do at the same time. Also, I can see a lot of work went into it.
